I like Fords and drive an F150 but I know a dealership that told me the F150 is not good for 5th Wheel trailers . They told me best is 3/4 ton or full ton for 5th Wheels . That's why I said I would not pull a 5th wheel . Also 5th wheels are bigger trailers and I don't care for a short body anything in 1/2 ton weight for a 5th wheel even if it's 4WD .

I bought a Tundra Crew Max 4x4 with the 5.7. $42 000. It's a 2016. Great truck and pulls a boat without a sweat. Awesome brakes. Poor gas mileage. Average without the boat is 12.9 .....pulling the boat it averages around 11.5.
But, hey! It's fast and rides nice. I average a little over 17 on summer gas and mid 16's on winter blend on hwy. 10 towing boat but I have 22' bay on tandem axle that weighs 5000 lbs. I thought towing mileage would be higher than my Tacoma but it is not. If I was the OP and buying used I would definitely look for a Tundra. Not sure if the 38 gallon tank was available in a 2014. Bigger gas tank is main reason I sold Tacoma and bought Tundra. Tacoma would only go 180-190 miles towing.

I honestly don't know much about the engineering aspects of the suspension differences. I've ridden in Fords and didn't think they had particularly good rides compared to Chevy or Ram. And the guy who bought my parents' old travel trailer had an F-150 and it squatted so low that the base of the jack was just barely off the ground when we retracted it all the way. I'd never seen anything like it. My point is that I don't have a ton of experiences with Ford suspensions, but the experiences I've had were all bad.

And that was with a 21', 4k lbs TT. Nothing heavy at all. It was made so that mid-size SUVs could pull it, and the F-150 looked pretty over-matched.

4k dry is probably pushing 6k loaded. If they didn't use a proper weight distribution hitch, it would squat any half ton.

I would say look at 2000 lbs of something and then tell me you put that in there. 2000 lbs is a 6-foot pickup bed stacked side to side top to bottom front to back with feed sacks. You putting bricks in there?

500 lbs on mine with just fresh water and propane. 21' x 8' is a little bigger than a pickup bed. It's easy to add a lot of weight.
That sticker also doesn't always include add-ons. I know mine doesn't include the second a/c or swivel chair. It probably doesn't even include the spare tire.

This is just stupid and off topic, if its not a toy hauler and your not stacking stuff in there your not putting 2k in it.

Most dealers tell you to allow 1500. Depending how you pack, could be more could be less. 2k is not hard. Mine is rated up to 3k lbs of cargo btw. Electrical cords, water hoses, sewer hoses, camp mats, multiple chairs, table, decorations, lantern, outdoor games fishing gear, wheel chocks, wdh, sway bar, leveling supplies, vacuum, broom, linens +spares for 3 beds, clothes, tool kits, wheel tool, flashlights, iron, board games, hand guns, extra ammo, misc ( glue batteries, nuts bolts), air compressor, toilet chems, cleaners, tissue, hair dryer, toiletries (and everybody has to have their own) 2 TVs, play station, movies, space heaters, fan, books, dog food, dog crates(2), charcoal, bottled water, cokes, other drinks (lots of beer ), food, paper goods, spices, kitchen cleaner, Dawn, utensils, all my grilling gear, kitchen towels, bowls, pans, toaster, trash can/bags, interior decor...and thats just off the top of my head.

Their receiver may be higher than yours. IDK. Just think there could be another reason.

Well I got a good deal on a 2013 F-150 4x4 5.0. Love the ride and the way it drives, which is all that matters. Couldn’t find myself a Tundra with the seating I wanted at the price I wanted. They are great trucks but just not for me. I’m really digging my new truck. Pics up when I get home....
