At 57 years old, I should be more careful on what I put in my mouth. But I'm not. One thing 2017 has helped me with is sensible eating and correct times to do so. I was the biggest I've ever been in my life in Jan 2017. I worked it hard for several months and went from 259 to 229. I made an accountability thread each week, THAT HELPED!! I have since gained 6 pounds back. I'm right at 235 now. I need to decide if I'm ready for another accountability thread in Jan. I really would like to get to 220. I would feel like a champ at that weight. I haven't waned from my exercise, though, which is a good deal. I'm still logging approx 15mi a week walking/jogging combo. At one point I was up to 24mi/week. I just haven't been eating as good as I should, lately, and I know I won't finish the year out with healthy eating. I think I'll get widdit at the first of the year and make this happen. Good Luck to anyone else trying to stay fit as they age. It's lots harder when you become my age.

You can do anything you set your mind too.

A guy who joined the running club a couple years ago is running his first marathon today. A Typical 50+ year old machinist. Wore out and tired.....now he is running more than me and dropped a ton of weight. He finished 1000 miles earlier this month.

He isn't a runner type. He isn't a healthy active guy....just a guy who got tired of sitting around.

I've done okay this year. Went from 209 to 188, but I'm kinda stuck there. Lost about 3" in my waist. Going to the gym 4-5 mornings a week. Changed my diet significantly by cutting out all snacking and eating 5 times a day.

My goal this year is to make 175 and lose another inch or so around the middle. I had a minor heart attack in March at the age of 61. Turns out they are scary, but good motivation.

I try and have a major theme each year. Last year was finances and getting used to living in a new city. 2018 is going to be focused on health. I'm sitting at 215 and need to get down around 175. I've done it before so I know the path, I've just got to eliminate excuses. I'm tired of being tired.

Good job ya'll! Making the decision is often the hardest part. Good luck!

2017 has been probably one of the worst years I have lived through on a personal level. Lost too many family members and friends at early ages this year plus my baby sister was diagnosed out of the blue with terminal cancer. I was lazy and let my eating and workout habits lapse early in the year. Realized in September it was time to fix it. Started back to eating clean and working out like my life depended on it because quite honestly it does.
So far I am knocking on the door of 70lbs lost and I feel like me again. Putting in a lot of miles but its a great stress reliever. Focusing on strengthening core as well and just feel great again. Got a few more pounds to drop which is gonna be no issue at all. Learned a lot since I lost my weight the first time a few years back. Staying healthy and fit is the key. Just because the weight came off does not mean I solved all my issues with it. Its gonna be a daily thing to work to keep it off.

All in all I am happy. Made it through Thanksgiving with no weight gain at all, actually lost weight for that week. I enjoyed eating with my family I just did not stuff myself. I ate what I wanted but did it more sensibly. I expect to do the same over Christmas.

Hoping 2018 is a much better year for my family and wish you all nothing but the best in 2018. Set your goals, work on reaching them daily and most of all stay positive and committed. You can get there if you really want to.

I continued to lose weight slowly this year. I will lose some more but Im back to my 1969 boot camp size and weight so Im not worrying about my weight anymore. Plus getting older, I just dont eat much anymore.

2017 was my first year of retirement so were having to get along without the primary wage earners check. Thats tough stuff but we will get through it.

I buried my little brother and my mother this year.

I barely survived my gall bladder going south on me.

I did secure a slip on LLew for crappie and need to go fish it so not all bad I suppose.

For 2018 I will learn to work jigs and eat crappie fillets. Thats it.

I have gone from 225lbs to 200lbs. I hovered around 193lbs for about 8 months but am putting on muscle weight now. Kinda backslid on my Nutrition routine. Will re-engage this week.
