I will be bringing down my two sons (16 and 13) to Mission Texas from Decemeber 25th to January 1st to visit my parents. My boys have a television show on the Hunt Channel called Growin' Up Wild and we are looking for someone to take them out fishing for a potential program of the show. We have fished South Padre and are really looking for a bass or gar experience. Austin in particular would appreciate that as he is in the Wisconsin Ice Fishing Circuit and is currently in the lead for the state Master Angler Program. The program is to recognize a student who catches the most species of qualifying fish. He has yet to catch a 19" largemouth or 36" gar.
Austin and I have both done quite a bit of searching on the internet and have been guided by others to this forum for help. We have references and links to the tv show which is primarily about bringing up two boys in the outdoors as they pursue game. Clean the game and they cook it!
Thanks in advance!

Mission is not a good fishing destination for fresh water. Saltwater is good though. I wouldnt fish the river these days. In the old days I did catch bass in Rio Grande City but I wouldnt do it these days.

Mission ain't that far from Falcon.. Hire a local guide and I can just about assure you that he will catch a 19" bass.. This time of year the guide business is a bit slow, so find a good looking day, make the hookup, and the odds are good..

Here's a link to local Falcon Guides:

Good luck!
