Made it out there this afternoon. Found a net full of big shad in 5 ft of water where the wind had pushed them into a marina. Decided to try shallow instead of drifting first and it worked. Anchored on a flat in only 4 feet of water where the wind was pounding some reeds. First fish of the day was a 12 pound blue. Had 6 more blues that first hour with the next biggest being a fat 6. Things slowed down a bit so I moved. Stayed shallow and got 2 more quickly and things died.

I needed a break from the wind so I checked out a cove with wind ripping down the middle but some still water near the north bank. Birds were all over it and sonar showed tons of bait. I made two quick drifts and missed the hole I was trying to drag through.

Had to get off the lake early, and think I left a pile of fish in that spot I didnt drift properly Through.

All the fish caught went back in the water.

Hey Sandog,

Im hoping you wouldnt mind teaching an ole crappie chaser some of your tricks. We live near EM but always end up on Ray Roberts chasing crappie with my 5 year old son. Hes been talking about wanting to get into some cats but Im not sure where to start on EM. I like the idea of drift fishing if thats something that youve had any success with.

Any information would be appreciated!
