And your tires are absorbing all the stress.

Maybe not the boat, but things attached to the boat. I sheared two bolts off the pivot in my Fortrex mount just driving from my house to work one day.

A 300hp motor trying to twist itself off the transom while running 80mph on a choppy lake makes a trip down the road on a trailer look like a walk in the park.

Picture is from FB and apparently caused by both factors.

That guy probably used that goo from 3M. Thats all I can figure.

Different stress isnt it? The lower cylinders support the motor when running, when trailered the motor is tilted up high changing the support to only the top pivot. The motor mate type support works well.

To each his own, (and recommendations do vary by boat brand), but here's a clip from a Boat US article on the topic, when talking to Ranger for their thoughts:

Ranger Boats is another transom saver advocate. "There is a great deal of impact on the transom while traveling down the highway," notes Ranger's Trailer Engineer Rick Huddleston, "and a transom saver [connected to the rear cross member of the trailer] is far more effective at preventing stress at the engine bracket and transom than using the 'tilt/lock' feature on many outboard motors."

Whether you use some mechanism provided on the motor's transom bracket, or an added after-market "H" brace between the midsection and transom bracket, the load stresses on the transom are unchanged. Those H brackets do a great job at reducing "wiggle" on the steering pivot, which can cause accumulated wear with all the hours some rigs get towed. They also prevent load stress from pushing on the trim/tilt hydraulic system.

I appreciate all the input fellas! I decided to go with the simple Yamaha brand motor toter with TH Marine steering cable clips. The motor toter is a single tube that fits over the port side hydraulic piston. Below is a link to the video of the motor toter. I too believe that the stress from running in choppy water has to be worse than driving down the road. I almost got the prorule, but decided against it, because I don't like the idea on the constant metal on metal impact. The thing I like about this motor toter is that is has a very thick rubber bushing, which should help absorb some of the shock. Also, I have insurance on the boat, so I figure if I'm using the Yamaha recommended product then that is my best chance of having the insurance help out should anything happen while trailering. Thanks again fellas!

I did not see anywhere that the "M Y Wedge" is a Yamaha recommended product. Did I miss that somewhere? Having an independent marine dealer such as Crappie Station advertise a product in a video doesn't mean it is Yamaha recommended simply because that dealer sells Yamaha branded products, though that particular dealer may choose to push that particular after-market solution.

I bought it from plano marine, and it is a Yamaha product. It says Yamaha on the side in big red letters, was packaged with Yamaha instructions, and has a Yamaha issued part number. I imagine the rubber bushing will wear out, which is about the only downfall I can tell. I watched it closely in my rear view mirror yesterday as I took it to the lake. It honestly seemed to jostle a lot left then it did when I had the "H" style motor mate. I'm pleased with it. If anyone has any bad experiences with this product let's hear it
