I’m sure this is discussed somewhere but I did a search and all I got were football game discussions. I was watching a video on the Alabama rig and noticed it’s good for both bass and stripers. There’s a warning listed when buying the rigs that says, “check state regulations before use”. A couple of questions. Are they legal here in Texas and are they successful?

They are legal in Texas per TPWD , however if your fishing them in a tournament check there rules some say only one hook can be used or something like that some tournaments don't, I have used them some but I have only little success with them.

Legal in Texas, not allowed in Bassmaster events.

The other thing no one has mentioned are the snap swivels attached. Pay attention to the quality of these things because on some of the less expensive brands the snaps are pretty weak.

The first one I ever used I hooked 2 five pounders at the same time and one of the fish straightened out one of the snaps and got away. When you have two nice fish at the same time they can exert a lot of pressure against each other on that short wire.

Hogfarmer is the way to go. More expensive but top notch components. It’s worth it when you set the hook on a flashmob and a wire breaks. Always take a plug knocker with you as well.

As for the amount of hooks, you can use up to 100 hooks per device. I would advise reading the regulations listed by Texas Parks and Wildlife.

Game fish may be taken only by pole and line (which includes rod and reel), except as otherwise provided in this guide. A person may fish with multiple poles or other devices, except as provided herein. In fresh water, there is a limit of 100 hooks on all devices combined.

Agreed with Jake, also like the Santone heads, 3/0 for 4 baits and a 5/0 for my big middle swimbait.

You want some very durable rigs at a decent price than check the ones out I make. My HD rig will hold up to just about any fish you want to catch on them. My Junior and Mini rig is very comparable to the Flash Mob but will hold up a lot better. They are all on SALE right now also. Enter Christmas20 into the coupon code and you will get 20 % off.
