My wife wants to fish a couples circuit this year that has a few lakes that I have never fished.Martin creek, Bob sandlin and cypress springs are the lakes. Any tips for navigating these lakes would be appreciated. I hate to tear up the boat.

Cypress is easy, mind the buoys and stay away from the docks/coves per posted regulations and you're good. Unless you try to run up to the pads... Get off plane when the depth reaches about 8 foot, or trimhigh and hope for the best... it is shallow up there, and silted in pretty good!

Lookup Bob Sandlin on here and google search. Plenty of info!

Somebody posted a map of Martin Creek with the "boat lane" marked. I'm no expert on the lake but the last time I was there that's how my partner ran it and he has a lot more experience on that lake than me. Shallow hump past the bridge will mess you up.

The timber in Martin Creek is pretty obvious now. The subject of Martin Creek has been covered in this forum. I have limited experience on the lake but I have fished it a couple times recently. As has been stated you have to hug the left side of the lake up lake from the railroad bridge. And the hump left of the RR bridge just up the lake is barely visible now. If one is not cautious they could run up in shallow water around that hump quickly. Study your maps and be careful there. Once you get up lake opposite the entrance into the discharge cove and if you want to go in, slow down, watch out for the obvious stumps and work your way in. It is pretty obvious where the timber is in the discharge cove and how to cross to get to the clear side along the opposite bank. You can then carefully run (1/2 speed) up close to the discharge area. A map posted on this site a couple weeks ago is a good reference.

I have not covered how to get from the ramp to the RR bridge. Be careful on that transit. Run lose to the dam to the left side and stay off the left bank up to the bridge. There is timber on the other side of the lake there. Study the lake maps on your GPS unit.

Thanks for the info. Hopefully I'll get out there soon to check it out.

What tylerman said is correct about the part from launch to rr bridge. I have a pic of that as well I can post tomorrow from work. Lots of timber on that side for sure

The "safest" route is staying down near the dam and following the shoreline curvature. There is a path to run along the main point BUT be careful as there is a wicked concrete post about halfway up that's really hard to see when the sun isn't up! The other line marks how to run to the intake side. there are a couple humps out there that usually have brush on them so you can see but again in bad light just watch out for em.
