Weighting formula when scales not functioning or not available. L*L*G / 1200
measure Bass girth with fishing line. this is within 1/2 pound

I use the Guestimation formula. Works well for me.

If I landed the fish I usually guess 5-8 pounds, if it gets off the fish was usually a 12+ pound fish

Every fish is a giant until it is put in the boat and proved different. Even then it is sometimes still a giant and thrown back in quickly. Haven't you ever seen Ike?

I don't like formulas or tables because they aren't accurate. I've checked them against some good fish of which I knew the weight and measurements.The calculations were within only a couple of pounds.
