Long Read, sorry. Went to the lake Friday. Back in, boat fired right off. Backed it off the trailer and beached it. Went to park the truck at the top of the hill. Wasn't gone longer than 10 minutes. Got back to the boat, got lifevest out, sat down, hooked up, and boat wouldn't start. Cranked on it awhile and nothing. Seemed like it tried once or twice. Now this is completely unusual. This motor has fired off immediately ever since I got it in '99....new. I assumed my day was finished, so went and got the trailer. Loaded the boat with the trolling motor. Drove into town and stopped at autozone. They checked the battery and said it was bad. Probably from me cranking on it. They didn't have any AGM's, so I went home. Plugged the boat in when I got home. Went back out about 30 minutes later and removed the battery. Took it to O'reily's. They said battery was no good as well. They also didn't have AGM's. Went to Interstate batteries in Euless. They had batteries, but said, that mine tested good, which I thought strange. Bought a new battery anyway, as batteries tend to be weird and this one was 3 years old. Got home, installed in the boat. Turned the key, and it fired right off. Headed back to the lake, to try and salvage a couple hours of fishing on my day off. Back in, climbed in to back off the trailer. Boat will not fire. Doesn't even act like it wants to. Strapped it back down and headed home. Go out to the shop this afternoon, and bump the key, and it fires. Now I'm at a loss. If I take it in to Fun N Sun, it will probably start for them. If I go to the lake, it probably won't for me. Any suggestions?

When the motor fails to start, turn the ignition key to on and check to see if the electric high pressure fuel pump is working. You should be able to hear it come on for a few seconds after turning the key to on.

I'll see if I can hear the pump in the morning. I haven't installed anything new, except the battery.

Just FYI as a follow up. I took it to Fun N Sun. Lance got me fixed up in a couple of days. It was the (3) fuel pumps. They were the originals.
