Well, the story is.. We asked my 9 yr old to write up a Christmas list and amount a dog, and afew toys... He asked for a good fishing trip with the one and only "Dad".. We have a small tracker boat and normally fish Lake Granbury, but fishing isn't great here. Beside 4 or 5 crappie and setting trot lines for catfish.. Which is a hit and miss with the cats. That's all we normally do.

That being said, I was thinking of booking a more experienced guide to put us on some fish instead of the hit and miss fishing he is used to with me.. lol. "cheap shot at my experience." That being said, since Granbury isn't close by any of the larger lakes in the area. Where and who would you all recommend that has the patients for a novice and his kid. He loves fishing and will wont to stay fishing when everyone else wants to go home. I support that and just want him to have a memorable time with alot of action landing fish. Striper/Bass/catfish... Doesn't matter to me... Only requirement is having a great time. I would take him myself , but I don't know the lakes outside of Lake Granbury.. and even that one is a tough lake to do well in. Being that I am taking my son on a trip, it would be nice to book something that isn't a crowded boat or others on it for him to annoy... Booking a trip for the two of us is ideal.

Give me input! I can handle it!

I've heard great things about all the guides listed. I have gone with Bob Maindelle of Holding the Line Guide Service on Lake Belton and Stillhouse Hollow. Been with him three times this year and he is an awesome guide and extremely patient. He often takes children fishing and they return with several several white bass and sunfish. We just caught over a hundred white bass a few weeks ago with him on Lake Belton. He doesn't charge enough money either. His trips costs $220 for four hours. I asked him why he doesn't charge more and his reply was he wants it to be cheap enough that he can take more father and sons fishing! Just a stellar guy!

Contact Mike Acosta. I am sure he can book y'all for Granbury but if for some reason the fishing is not good he fishes Whitney and pk also. I am sure of those three lakes he will know which lake gonna be your best chance at loading the boat. Lots of good guides here but he may be best for your location and situation. Good Luck

I second the recommendation for Bob Maindell. you will not find a more Kid friendly guy and you WILL catch fish.
