Headed out to try my luck, haven’t seen many reports on it lately. Anyone had much success lately with the cooler weather?

Buddy told me they caught good fish on main lake points few days ago. Said his best five around 20lbs. Square bills and lipless cranks.

Fished Texoma in the early 70's. Had no idea what I was doing or where to fish so needless to say zero fish in three days. At least the cabin was nice I rented on military owned property. Eastern Texas is where I should have move to after getting out of the Air Force in '75 instead of Ft. Lauderdale. What beautiful country and a far cry from Wichita Falls where I was stationed.

I will always wonder if I could have done well on Texoma with the knowledge I have today and of course with the latest in modern equipment. It's a really big lake and not one learns in a weekend.

There was one terrifying moment: A red flag was put up indicating dangerous weather on the way. I barely got back to the aluminum-roof boat house just as black clouds and high winds slammed the area; and then huge hail stones on the roof sounded like a hundred horse hooves. One guy that also took shelter scared the [censored] out me saying a twister sometimes follows hail! (..which did happen in Wichita Falls when I was working off bass in a metal building - hail and then a tornado came down just north of us wiping out a trailer park just on the other side of the Red River. The twister against a blue sky background was one of the most beautiful and scary things I've ever seen.....

Can't make this stuff up!
