At the end of the 12-month period we will award a grand prize winner (running May 2007 through April 2008). The grand prize winner gets an additional $500 gift certificate from Academy.

To submit a photo for consideration, email general_mail@texasfishingforum.com. Photos must be a minimum of 750 pixels wide, 650 pixels tall and in .jpg format. They need to be clear and in focus. Grainy photos will generally not be chosen.

Be creative and use bright colors. Keep in mind that white can be a tough color to shoot. Professional photographers will often keep a red shirt available in case an opportunity arises and the subject is wearing washed out colors. A yellow or orange light rain slicker can also really spice up a shot.

Fish photos are often the winners, but a great shot that says, “Texas Fishing,” is what we are looking for.

To make pics smaller, you have to use software to resize them. Use a free program like ifran view or the GIMP, or if you already have a gfx manipulation program installed, like photoshop, use that.

As a recent THF cover shot winner, I’d recommend that if you would like to enter the TFF or THF contest that you follow the instructions that JP initially posted when he made the announcement in the first post in this thread. I don’t believe that he promised to monitor this thread as it was really just an announcement. It certainly is not the place to post entries as he left specific instructions for that purpose.

He has a similar Academy sponsored cover contest running on THF. He contacts the winners directly.

Okay thanks, that's helpful information. Would be nice to see the winning photos sometime as it would help to judge more what they are lookin' for. As you suggested I have sent in an entry as noted in JP's original post.

The cover photos are shown on the landing page to TTF & THF. If you don't see that when you come to TFF, that means you likely have an interior forum paged bookmarked instead of the actual landing page that features the cover shots. See the landing page for the current cover photo.
