First, I have 8 other Lews reels, all regular speed spools. I bought a BB1 Pro in April, it is easily my least favorite reel I own. For it to be known for a long casting reel, i feel like I outcast it with my speed spools every time using same bait and rod. Some recent issues I have had, on a long or hard overhand cast, it seems like the rotational inertia causes my thumb bar to flip up with about 15 ft of line out and it slams on the breaks and really pi$$es me off. On some cast I also hear clicking as the spool is spinning. And then on some cast is seems fine. Yesterday I had to hold the thumb bar down as the spool was spinning. It almost feels like I bought a knockoff, i got it off amazon, but it came in same lews packing as all my other reels. Either way not happy at all with it, any ideas? At least any ideas other than telling me to use another brand, because I love all my other reels.

Go to rods and reels and find RT at Tackle right, send it to him and see what he can do with it.

I bet Lews will make it right for you at least they did for me I have BB1 Speed spool I use for Frog fishing with Braid it has worked well for me anyway this summer I was noticing that my drag was slipping I keep it pretty lock down for frog fishing so was able to tighten a bit more but still could pull line out pretty easy I took it apart and though maybe I could what the problem was I did not see and broken/worn parts So I decided I would order some parts that I thought might be making the drag slip, a few days later I got in touch with customer service to make sure they had received my order they put me in touch with the service department come to find out the parts I ordered was not the problem they told me to look at side plate on the handle side where bearing was under drag star and if the side plate was cracked then that was my problem, it was cracked so they sent me a new side plate along with the parts I ordered and did not charge me for any of it plus the manger over the service department called me the next day to make sure I was taken care of and to assure me my parts were on the way. I had bought the Lews reel on a web site I thought that was great customer service so I will buy there product more.

Zach - I'll sell you a BB1H. I have struggled to get this thing dialed in. PM me if you have an interest (or anyone else)

Something is wrong with it for sure. I have several and they cast great and do not have any problem with the thumb bar. The BB1 Pro is one of my wife's favorite reels and she gets fantastic distance out of them even with light baits. When you get a good one you will love it.

I have a couple and never had any issues. Like someone said above just contact them and talk with them. I sent a reel in for repair once and when they received the reel they just sent me a brand new one.

I have 8 lews reels with one of them being a bb1, not the Pro model, its the one thats supposed to cast further due to no anti reverse. Well this thing sucks! I wish lews had some lower gear ratios in the lineup in different models.

I have 4 of the BB1's and I get fantastic long casts out of them. I use them for my moving baits because of the distance I can get out of them. My wife likes the BB1 pros better for moving baits and she gets good distance out of those also.

Lews made some 5.5-1 gear ratios in the Super Duty but they are a little hard to find since they were discontinued. Im glad I bought 4 of them before they quit making them.
