Anyone got one? Was wondering how well they work. How does a fried turkey compare to a deep fried turkey in oil?

Got one and used it last year. Was really good. Not quite as good but then the oil less fryer costs $80 and propane is cheap. Doing it traditional way gots like $40-50 a pop just for the oil. To me it's well worth it.

PGR has one and they work really well. I'd say oil fried is still a little bit better, but not worth the cost of oil and mess it makes worth it. The Big Easy is the version he has and it makes a mean fried turkey, but also cooks things like prime rib roast, and other large cuts great.

It cooks the best turkey youll ever eat. Ive tried oil fried turkey several times and never cared for the taste.

I am on my 2nd Big Easy Oil Less Fryer (wore the first one out) I brine my turkey, add a rub and cook it in the oil less and it has been the talk of the dinner table every year. The skin is allways crispy, and the white meat is juicy.

In addition there are so many other things that can be cooked in them.

Love mine. Very close to fried turkey without all the mess/hassle/expense.

One really nice thing about the Big Easy is that you can use rubs and they will stay on the bird, and not float off as soon as the turkey hits that oil. It takes a few more minutes but I think the taste is just as good as the oiled one. It's a lot cheaper without the very pricey peanut oil and quite a bit safer.

I have one and it is awesome. Be sure to oil the inside before use. And the book recommends cooking the dark meat to 165 F. I have found that 170 F is better and only takes an additional 20 minutes or so. And you can cook a larger bird (up to 16 lbs.). It takes about 3X longer but when you consider the cleanup you don't have to do its a push on time. More time for beers.

They are good to have if power ever goes out for an extended period and or you make a camping trip and need a way to cook just about anything.
