Just picked up the electric version made by Masterbuilt/Butterball for $74 from Wmart Got it for my Dads birthday present Its for outside use and has a wood chip box Because its electric, the videos and reviewers recommend plugging it in and letting it get up to temp for 45 min prior to putting bird/pork shoulder/etc in there Reviewers/testers report that the results are identical to the propane powered Big Easy It does have a slightly larger capacity than the Big Easy

Will do I got the electric for my dad in part because I dont want him lugging around heavy propane tanks (hes got an ifffy back that can flare up from time to time)
Im also interested to see the comparison/results
I have the feeling that the electric wont get quite as hot as the propane Big Easy and might require longer cooking times especially on colder days if not wind protected
The Big Easy is impressive by how hot it gets. Its like a mini tandoori or kebab oven with all that 360 radius cylindrical infrared and radiating heat

The price of the oil is the killer. Thats why I was asking. Trying to cut my cost... We usually fry 4 turkeys on TG morning. I filter the peanut oil back into the container. Makes the best seasoned fish frying oil there is and usually is enough to last all year used a half gallon or so at a time for a fish fry.
And I know who "Jeff" is.

Doing kebabs and drumsticks on the Big Easy Love this thing. Its cheating, but I dont care There is a drumstick accessory, but used a diy grill basket (wire snips+ square grill basket) so I could fit it all in there at once (kebabs and drumsticks at the same time). Kebabs should take 25min and the drumsticks about 40min

Im reporting back on my turkey...
Although the turkey turned out good it is in no way better then a turkey fried in oil. Its easier, its safer, but its not a fried turkey. Its very much like a beer can chicken thats done on the gas grill. Im going to try some other things in it but if I really want a fried turkey Ill go back to old school oil.

Agree, its a very good roaster. You do get crispy skin, but not like you can achieve with fried Correction: kebabs 45 min and drumsticks one hour when cooking them all together

Cooked a 10lb. Pork butt on mine last week, not nearly as good as a smoked one but came out juicy and fell off the bone. Took about 5 1/2 hrs compared to about 10 on a smoker.

So, my dad roasted a chicken on the electric Masterbuilt/Butterball yesterday (outside temperature 74 degrees, 8mph wind)
The Big Easy is superior (more infrared heat and crispier skin) The Masterbuilt/Butterball does a very good job--somewhat crispy skin and moist meat, but not quite as good as the Big Easy.
