Twenty years ago in December I had a lady ask me to bring her some fish to eat. I caught one over 5 pounds on Lake Nacogdoches that was over the (at that time) 21 inch slot. When I cleaned her she was full of eggs. Of course it was full of eggs. They start developing them in the fall. That's why the Share lunker season starts in Oct. Takes months for them to develop.

I'm pretty sure the spawn is triggered by three events. 1.Lengthening daylight hours 2. Warming water temps 3. See #1
The shallow bass which are trying to "bed" are usually young males just going through the motions.
Any actual "spawning" would be in vain if temps are about to drop.
However, If it's happening, there must be reasons for it.

Only nature knows. They must survive cause you will see two inch bass at the ramps in Jan/Feb.
With the mild winters we have had they may all survive. I love it when a MAN thinks he knows nature better than nature knows itself. LMAO
I have a bass spotted about 7 lbs I seen on a bed today but she was a little spooky. Tried to come back in a couple of times and both my customers seen her and the 2-1/2 lb buck with her.
If weather warms back up I hope she will stick cause I will do a video on catching a bed fish in the fall just to show the non believers.

I have never met Marc but from what I have heard of his reputation, I would be inclined to believe him.
