What was your best bait that you used while fishing for sunfish this year? Live,Artificial,Lures,Flies,etc




Side Note: Give the name of lures,artificial,and flies. Also what type live bait? If worms what type?

The bait of CHAMPIONS. Worms. aka Night Crawlers!

I've had good success on this lure called the Worm Rival Spin from K&E tackle. Here's a pic of a couple of the colors that I've used with pretty good success. I've also caught quite a few sunfish on 1/16th ounce hand tied jigs as well. For me the jigs with small hooks, like size 6 or 8 work better for obvious reasons and I usually add a chunk of cut fish, a crappie nibble, or a worm. But by far my favorite bait for gills are chunks of nightcrawlers or worms that I find under some rocks and flower pots on the side of my house fished on a number 8 hook.

Once I took bankers advice on upping the hook size and the amount of worm on the hook, the size went up of the fish

These are only a few multi-species lures that I can always count on regardless the water temperature or lake.

I don't know about sunfish but for fresh water Reds it was a Chartreuse Jig on a down rigger.

I have a lot of luck jigging with Gulp! minnows on a 1/64 or 1/32 oz. jig head and freelining Gulp! waxies using the slow fall as my action. Jigging catches the bigger ones and freelining catches 'em all.

My best bait this year was a crawdad fly! Worked great all year!




Side Note: Even caught some nice Rios with it!
