Hello Fellow Anglers,

I am checking to see if anyone here has fished Granite Park in Plano near 121 and Dallas North Tollway?

I may live in Sherman, but I work in Addison. So sometimes on the drive home I can take some different routes home and they take me by a lot of ponds.

I have been getting into a kick of finding ponds in business areas that may not be fished as much as ponds at local parks, and it has been good fishing so far. Plus they aren't busy and no one really bothers you there.

Here is some pictures of the pond area and a close up of the pond I think is holding fish.

What makes you think that pond is holding fish? It wasn't there a few years ago. It was a corn field.

Also, it's Frisco. There's a greater than zero chance that the lake has lead contamination due to the Excide Battery plant that was nearby.

Agree, no bass. It has no natural spring or creek channel to feed it. FB is right, it was farmland until about 5-10 years ago. There are much better places just a few miles away!

I grew up right here next to it and have caught fish in it but nothing over 4 pounds. They will run you off of it pretty quick FYI

I figured there might be fish that based on the layout of the pond; the cover that is there as well as fountains present, moving water. Also Granite Park was initially started in 1999 based on the info I found and I am sure the pond has been around for at least 8-10 years. I know that it isn't 100% guaranteed, but my previous experience with "business ponds" has shown that they will hold fish with the information I mentioned above.

Thanks for the info, good to know about them running off people...I drove around there about a week ago and I didn't see any specific signage or postings about fishing/trespassing....I think I saw one that said no swimming or wading.

I know how some of these places can be, usually I like to call ahead to the lease holder or building owner and just verify or get permission to fish. Funny enough, because of my job I wear business clothes...so slacks and a button up shirt, sometimes a tie, and I fish in that. So when I'm at these "business ponds" people usually don't pay me much mind thinking that I work in one of the buildings near there.

I don't mind if there isn't any bigg'ns there, I like to have a little place to fish for like 30min and catch a few. I like the little escape of being outside and maybe catching a few fish while I'm at it.

Thank you all for your input and response.

with all the traffic you drive through, you can either sit in the car bumper to bumper, or fish. Think you've found the most efficient use of your time.

I built a restaurant in that granite parks building over ten years ago so I know the ponds been there for awhile. They do have security so not sure if they will bother you or not.

Yea, they area started construction on 1999 so it has been going on for a while...those corporate ponds are always interesting...but they are usually well maintained like landscaping around it, so easy shore access around them.
