TPW is changing size limits on some lakes doing away with the slot and going to 14" minimum. On Grapeving they are proposing a five fish limit with 2 any size and the rest 18" minimum. That is the strangest I have ever heard of.

Kind of a "reverse trophy limit? Not questioning you but....OK I am questioning you. Sure you read that right? Post the article. Thanks, 361V.

That's similar to the regulations here in NC. We can keep 2 any size and 3 over 14" on most lakes.

I like the idea of being allowed a few under 14.

On Lewisville yesterday I caught several over 18. Legal but I don't like keeping larger fish.

Also got several 12inch to just under 14. So not legal. Would have liked the option to keep a few of those 12-13 inch fish for supper.

How long does the approval process take? Will the new regs take affect in April or September 2018? A change to 14 inches on Granbury!

Tourney guys sure aren't killing the little ones, have to throw them back! Alan Henry has a weird reg like that too.

It could be to help tournaments in the area. More than likely it's just to control the size populations.

Bridgeport going to a straight 14" minimum would be great for tournaments

I think all lakes should be 5 fish over 14 inches then there is only one size for all to keep up with. but politics will not allow that. The Grapevine proposal is stupid. good luck

Thanks Mark. This seems odd to me. I think in terms of our Redfish limits that allow ONE trophy bull red but allow you to keep several small reds to eat as a successful way of A. removing some smaller fish and B. protecting larger(trophy) fishery. Allowing only a couple small(no minimum) fish but three over 18 doesn't seem like a great plan. If trying to protect the larger fish and encourage removing some of the smaller ones they should allow several "any size/no minimum" with only one over 18".....or "if it ain't broke don't fix it". Just leave it alone. I for one actually believe limits specific to the fishery actually work...sometimes. This Grapevine one doesnt make sense to me.
