I have one of these old reels and was wondering if it can be converted to be free-spooling when casting?

Dis able or remove the level wind That would reduce friction, but the level wind drives off the cog gear and would have no effect on allowing the the reel to free spool. I was asking about making the reel cast with the handle not turning.
