Iv started bowfishing recently (lots of fun) I am not a fan of leaving them on the bank, so keep what I shoot. Usually get gar and have heard that they are good eating. I also get carp from time to time. Does anyone have any recipes for gar or carp to share?

All Ive done for far is get the meat off the back straps. Stay above the ribs as the eggs are toxic to humans, or so Ive heard and not willing to find out. Cut the meat in to chunks, marinade in honey mustard dressing and some liquid smoke. I clean the fish, chunk the meat. When I get home, I rinsed off the meat, put in to a gallon sized zip lock bag with marinade and put in the fridge. I cook it on a medium-medium high heat in a skillet or on the grill. It will turn white like chicken breast when its done.

I saw somewhere on YouTube where they would smoke the carp and make fish patties like you would with salmon. I think they did a cream cheese mix with the smoked carp and made a dip as well. Been wanting to try it out.
