I have a couple of rods with the tips broken off. How much can be broken off and the rod still have good life. What do you do when you lose 2 inches$ Four?

For me, if it's 6in of less, I'll repair it and keep it as a backup rod (or use the warranty).

my marriage was recently put to the test when the wife slammed the top 2" of my favorite 7' in the door of the truck. re-tipped and told her 'maybe I'll like it better this way'. never struggled so hard in my life to utter 7 words.

My wife broke the tip off a rod I had just completed and was slowly rotating in the fixture to cure the epoxy. Long story short, after the repair, it’s a favorite rod now.

Should be good to go. I have had to salvage a couple of favorite rods that way and had no problems.
