I finally got my hands on the smash tech convict and I was wondering what is the ideal line choice. I currently have 30-65/lb braid on all my rods. Should I put a leader on? Or is braid okay? Do I need to just reline an entire reel?

If fishing around grass, I would use 50lb to 65lb braid. Otherwise, I'd use 20lb flouro. I wouldn't trust a leader knot when fishing a big swimbait, but that's just me.

I use mono on just about all my big swimbaits. Test is whatever you are comfortable with and the type of conditions you have with cover and structure. I throw 17lb mostly and will go up to 20lb if fishing shallow around cover.

If the water is clear then I'd go with 20-25# fluorocarbon or Big Game. No leader

Are you fishing it line through? Or weedless?

Line throughH or XH rod with moderate to MF action. Braid to 25lb mono/copoly leader or straight 25lb mono/copoly

WeedlessXH rod with MF to fast action. Lots of personal preference on line choice
Lots of vegetation, Id lean toward straight 65-80lb braid
Sparse vegetation25lb line of your preference with or without braid mainline
