Looking to really give the c-rig a try. What is a good rod to go with? Prefer to keep it at or below $100.

I use a Duckett Triad 7'3 MH. No complaints here. Used a Heavy action rod for awhile, but switching to a little softer rod and a lighter wire hook has helped get more of them to the boat for me personally.

I've really like the BPS Johnny Morris carbonlite rods. I use a 7'0" MH and I'm about to buy a 7'3".

I fish C-Rigs all the time . I have two set-ups rigged and ready . 1) medium heavy , 7' , fast action , G Loomis . I use this for deeper water 10+ feet and deeper , and rocky area's . 15lb main , 10 or 12 lb flouro leader 2) Medium action spinning rod , 7' , fast action . 10-12 pound main with 8-10 lb flour leader . I tend to use this for pre-spawn and spawn . My PB came on this rig @ 12.4lbs tight lines

Buy two Berkeley Lightnings....one heavy in 7-3" and one med heavy 7'.
Keep two C-rigs on the deck. A shorter/lighter job for shallow work, and a big heavy rig with a longer leader for the deep stuff.
Both for under $90

I thought a mono leader was best due to it floating. Reading some folks going with fluoro??

I thought a mono leader was best due to it floating. Reading some folks going with fluoro?? With a mono leader it will still sink, not quite as fast as a leader of fluorocarbon but it will sink unless you use a bait that floats.
