For someone trying to locate stripers for the 1st time, would the Eisenhower ramp or the highpoint marina be a better starting point? Will be in a pontoon.

Any ideas or tips appreciated. Thanks and be safe.

We went out of Grandpappy point yesterday and found birds working all over the Washita flats to Mac creek.Good south wind blowing about 10 mph.
Use small chrome slabs or 3 inch glow sassy shad with 1/2 ounce head. Get upwind of the birds when they fire up and then drift through the schools.
Jig the slab up and down and use a long cast with a slow retrieve up from the bottom with the sassy shad.
Most of our fish were caught in water from 20-28 feet along the flats.
When the birds lay down, troll the same sassy shads you have to catch more box fish.
Eisenhower ramp would be better but why not go to Grandpappy and have a shorter drive over to the flats?

Good advice. I have heard the birds are working big time there.

Granpappy or Eisenhower State Park. I camped at Eisenhower, so I know the ramp area. If I fell confident I can get to Grandpappy without problem early morning, then I will try there.

Thanks for the 6 old geezer reference.
