A friend of mine has a transducer that came with his Hummingbird that is like a "two in one" transducer, basically its one transducer that is 2D sonar and side and down imaging. Does Lowrance have anything like this and what are these kinds of transducers called?

Okay I found out Lowrance makes one it's called a total scan skimmer. If anyone on here has one please let me know what you think about it.

Do you already have a Lowrance? If so, what model? Not all Lowrance graphs are compatible with the Total Scan transducer

Yes I have a Lowrance HDS 12 Gen 3. I'm just trying to find out what are the pros and cons of having one.

I have the sonar/down image transducer on my trolling motor connected to HDS 12 Gen 2. Works great.

Depends on the boat. With a bass boat the totalscan won’t work too well because of the speeds that bass boats run. It would be fine on a trolling motor or a slower boat.

According to Lowrance the totalscan transducer is only rated for speeds up tp 50mph. Not an issue on my bay boat and in fact it works surprisingly well at speeds close to that. On bass boats most people mount them to the bottom of the jackplate or to the transom so its out of the water when running.
