I was kindly invited to join these gentlemen for a Tawakoni fishing trip yesterday. We went out in Ed's recently purchased 22 ft pontoon boat, and it fished the 5 of us very well. We started about 9 AM and fished til 6 PM and caught 213: 200 mostly 13 to 17 inch whites, 2 legal hybrids, a legal striper, 5 short hybrids (all 16 to 17.5 inches), 2 cats, 1 crappie, 1 short striper and 1 keeper yellow bass. I was using #4 silver Mepps. Larry was using #4 Mepps and yellow tail-spinners. Ed was mostly using yellow tail-spinners. Peter and JR were using white and yellow tail-spinners.
We started in the Anchor and Finger Point areas but fishing was slow. After an hour or so we went to a place they called Figure Eight and found a good concentration there in 14 to 17 fow. About 1 PM we went to Cloud Point but couldn't find any. Next to Greenville Pump Station and found a bunch there in 11 to 15 fow. Stayed there til about 5 PM and left with 187 fish caught so far. Checked Anchor Point on the way back and found a bunch in 11 to 15 fow. Caught the rest of our fish there.
It was indeed a pleasure getting to meet JR and Peter and fishing with this group. Like me, they are serious fishermen and enjoyed being out catching on such a beautiful day.
