Last Saturday, before the front hit in south Texas, I covered a lot of different types of areas consisting of varying bottom structure and depth. Unfortunately, I did not get to fish the morning bite but I did fish noon until sunset. I found the best bite during that time to be mid day.
One the way out to the area I planned to fish I came across an island with a short grass flat that transitioned to a deep channel. There were channels on all sides of the Island and I fished the down wind side. This stop proved to be the only productive spot of the day. Within the first few cast I started hooking up with 16"-17" specks. All fish were caught on the drop off using the Controlled Descent Dual Paddle Tail.
All fish released.
