Did scouting run to see how fish reacted to cool weather. Went out from 9:45am to 1:15pm. Found fish in 17 to 21 fow at Saint Annes Point East, Kevin's Point, Spillway Point and Enchanted Isle Ridge. Checked Iron Wall Hump but not much there. At each spot caught some initially with #4 Mepps then switched to #2. At each spot except Saint Annes I had to switch because they stopped biting 4's. I think the shad are small. I can get a few reaction strikes with 4's, but they really want 2's. I ended up with 30 whites, 3 legal hybrids, 3 cats, 2 short hybrids and 2 nice yellow bass. Left em biting in all 4 places.

Another scouting run. This time I hit and found fish at Drew's Humps (on my newest map - link to it in signature block), SE drop-off of the A-Frame, Sam's Hump aka No-name Hump, Dam Drop-off and Dam Ridge. Caught 5 fish at each before moving on. Fish were in 16 to 20 fow. A few wanted #4, but they hit better on #2 Mepps. For example, in 4 of the spots I started with #4 and caught 2 before they quit. Then I switched to #2 and caught 3 in 3 to 4 casts. I think the shad are small and the ones I catch on 4's are the more aggressive fish reacting to a sudden start of the larger #4. I also checked out 3-Jug Hump, Campbell's Hump and Greenhouse Ridge and didn't find large concentrations there.

Thanks for mentioning Drew's humps. I forgot what those were named from when we went out together last month. I just downloaded the newest map. it's been a great help over the years.

10/16-17: Brother-in-law Rick came up from Houston for a couple of days white bass fishing. We made morning and afternoon trips both days and caught 37, 39, 40 and 39 for a 2 day total of 155. Of course, most were white bass, but Rick also caught 3 hybrids and I caught one. We also caught a few cats, keeper yellow bass and a couple of crappie, and Rick caught a nice LMB.

We caught about an equal number on #2 and #4 Mepps. We caught fish at Saint Annes Point West, Saint Annes Point East, Dam Drop-off, Sam's Hump and Spillway Hump. Fish were in 14 to 21 fow. Water temps about 78 degrees.

Here are some pics of trip:

Went on an afternoon scouting trip from 1 to 4PM. Caught 5 whites at far west end of Long Ridge, 5 at Key Ranch Drop-off, 5 at Merimac Point, 5 at Dollhouse Point, 5 at Spillway Point and 5 whites plus 2 hybrids and a cat at Game Warden Hump. Checked Key Ranch North and 3 Jug Hump but didn't see enough fish to stop. Fish were in 13 to 21 fow on the edges of humps and points and on the edges or slopes of drop-offs. All fish but one were caught on #4 Mepps worked medium to fast speeds coming off the bottom. Water temp about 73 degrees.

Thanks for the update. I will have to unpack my cool weather gear for the weekend, high in the 50s low in the 30s.
