for those of you that go down on a regular basis -----
how do you transport your rods ? & does the airline charge extra ?
the trip we just got back from Angler's Inn supplied the rods as part of the BASS special.
that is mot the normal. usually you have to take your rods.

Even though Ron Speed has rods you can use, I always take my own. I use a Jumbo Airliner and the American flight to MZT doesn't have an issue with it. It holds 18 so I let a buddy or two share the space and split the fee. If your status with American is high enough, no fee for the extra bag.

I'd rather not travel to a trophy lake to NOT use my own stuff.

Any Anglers Inn guest can pick from the selection of St. Croix rods. They are free to borrow -- pay only if you break one.

If you choose to fly with rods, American still seems to be the best among the major U.S. carriers. Here's an article I wrote about the topic that can help you overcome some of the obvious pitfalls
