What a great little lake! First time fishing Athens. Didn't catch a lot of numbers but every fish was good size and fat! Had 10 before off the water at 1. Best 5 probably went for 16-18lbs. If we could catch them anyone can haha.

Caught a few on a frog first thing in the morning. We were fishing the grass by the island near the dam.
The rest of the day we hit boat docks and the grass line up and down creek arms. Caught them all right on the grass line in about 5-8 ft of water. They wouldn't hit a moving bait for us. Most fish came off a Texas rig senko.

I recommend Athens if you haven't been. Has great facilities and a great new restaurant called the Boathouse.

Once the cooler weather settles in for good it'll be lights out. I'll definitely be back.

Good report. Good to hear that the fish you caught were fat. I have not fished Athens at all this year, but in the last couple of years, most of the fish I caught on Athens were skinny--almost sickly skinny.
