Question:
I'm wanting to upgrade to a TM with Spot Lock, and all I want it for is spot lock. I currently have a Maxxum 80, want something similar performance-wise.
So, what's the best/cheapest way to go? Terrova? anybody got thoughts?reviews?

Do you want foot control? If you do it isn't the cheapest but the only real one out there is the Ultrex. Yes some of the others have a foot control but there is no feedback to it. You are basically pushing the pedal to engage a button underneath. Most everyone that I know uses their remote. Now if you don't mind using the remote then several options for you. I just upgraded from the first generation Terrova to the new Ulterra. Spot lock before was good but not great. Now it is about as close to perfect as it gets. It only moves a foot or two and you have to really be watching to even notice.

I went the Motorguide xi5 route and have been very disappointed with the wireless foot pedal, flat out sucks IMHO. I wish I went MinnKota route with spot lock and kept the cable drive option. But I fish trees quite a bit. Xi5 will hold you on a brush pile easy.

My buddy is in love with the Ultrex. We all know it's pretty pricey though...

If the remote is pretty accurate, I would love to be rid of my foot control and cable.

I'll sell you a 112# Terrova with the foot control pedal, remote and brand new 60" shaft on it and new mount for $1,100 and pay shipping to your door. It has not been in the water once since installing the new shaft & mount.
I am upgrading to the Ultrex. I plan to post it in the classifieds. Pm me if interested.

Yes the remote is accurate it's just a personal preference. I use remote and make minor adjustments with foot control . You want the new model not the old one. It will be Bluetooth.
