Kaitlynn and I had planned to go yesterday. But, she had to postpone her trip home at the last minute. I decided to call my buddy Kenneth who has his own helicopter flying service. He met me at the house at 7 and we were off to the lake in a dense fog. I asked him if he wanted me to stop and get him some minners. He said he had never caught a crappie on jigs and he wanted to learn how since he had a box full. This was music to my hears. At our first stop I gave him a white BPS Jake. Fishing started out slow and picked up for short spell and then went cold. At 10:30 the fog finally lifted and we only had 6 fish in the box (Kenneth 5 Me 1. I had been telling him that once the fog lifted and the sun came out the fish should be on the brush piles. We had to make several moves back and forth between brush piles. We finished the day at 1:30 with 14 each. Overall the size of the fish we are catching seem to be getting a little smaller. Still some 12-13" fish but most are in the 10.5-11" range. Water temp is finally coming down on the power plant lake but the fish are still in 17-22 FOW suspended between 12-15 ft. Best bait was the white "Jake", Thermoclie's 2" Tadpole in Limetruese and Lane's Thump Chubby in the lime green. Probably going to take next weekend off and head to the ranch to see if I can get a couple freezer fillers. For some reason I really am having a hard time getting motivated to deer hunt.
