She got in the way while we were cat fishing. Good fish but she broke some hearts, we were for sure we had a 50+ pound catfish.

I'd guess hybrid, don't know if longnose gar grow that big, at least they don't up here.

They'll get up around 50lbs. Not a hybrid. We're a long ways from the nearest gator gar.

Yes they get that big, not a hybrid. Caught one almost that big (32lbs) on accident on my rooster tail this spring in the creek. 20 minute fight was awesome on a medium fast rod. Beautiful fish Blues, maybe you should change your name to Longnose Blues??? Haha

I have a past State catch-release record Longnose Gar. It was 56"long and weighed 35 Ldbs. It is still the current Lake Placid weight and CR record.

Your fish must have been really fat if it was only 56"/35lbs. This one was 65"/36lbs and beat the lake record by more than 10lbs, but we didn't submit it.
