I was there 10 days ago. Water temp was still between 79-80 and after 2 days couldn't define a pattern of any sort. Caught bass between 2 and 40'.

Did you try fishing the grass, or flipping the trees up in Evans?

Fished the mouth of Devils River. Tried flipping 10" worms in deep grass but nothing. We did however catch some with top waters in 25-40' of water. The few we did get in grass was less than 5'.

I was there last weekend and it was tough. Best bite was in the drains of pockets with grass and dragging a 10" worm. Next best was secondary points that had brush tx rigged lizard, baby brush hog, and 10" worm. Big fish came on a buzz bait and also had a giant blow up the whopper Plopper in two feet of water on the edge of a grass bed. I caught 9 keepers in 3 days and won the club tourney with 8 fish for 17#s. Not the Amistad I was hoping for.

Reminds me of a song. Artist: Roy Orbison
Album: Lonely and Blue - Song: Only the Lonely

You will be lonely on Big Blue and only the lonely will find those big fish. You will have to fish 100 miles of deep grass just to get 3 good spots holding big fish. Then you have to know how to get them out.

The grass will begin to fall soon then all that hard work will be over with until next August when it will even be better. It takes a few years of deep grass to start pulling those Crayfish hunters up from the deep. They have gotten very comfortable sitting next to those 100 ft. ledges and just do not want to leave. If everything stays stable and consistent through this next season we may see it happen. Keep your fingers crossed that they don't pull the plug again.

Each person you work with holds some promise to your future success.
