The lake up here seems to be coming back abit with the rise in the water level. Heard of a few anglers catching a few bass. Was wonder if anyone else had heard of any reports?

I heard the same and tried it for myself back in May. I caught a few bass, but there were a couple spots I caught crappie cast after cast on crankbaits and spinnerbaits while looking for bass. The crappie are very healthy... I caught quite a few in the 2-2.5 lb range. They stocked 40,000 smallmouth fingerlings and 3 million walleye fry this year and supposedly are doing all they can to get largemouth for next year. That's in addition to the almost 3 million walleye fry they stocked last year, along with 6,000 Black Crappie. It seems to be headed in the right direction.

Don't get your hopes up on the largemouth stocking. Local biologists seems to think the few bass currently
In the lake will produce enough offspring. Lake is looking better with the new water.

Be cool if they concentrate on smallmouth. That lake has potential to produce trophy smallies

Some crappie survived the algae outbreak. They have been catching white crappie out there for a while now.
The lake is full of bait fish. The fish have plenty to eat.

looks like its rising in a hurry! It may be too stained to fish right now. waterflow is looking great. Up to about 71.50 ft now!

Ute lake overflow will bring meridith up. Could be alot more if they actually open the gates to let out the remaining excess that they owe Texas. I read they are waiting until the streamed is completely saturated so most of it will reach the lake. Good news for the panhandle and will take pressure off the aquifer

Blessing indeed. Now if conchas can come up another 7 feet and go over spillway. That'll put more water in ute, then Meredith can continue to rise.

I would get nothing from lying. A new lake record white crappie was caught in April of this year at 3.12 pounds, as shown on the LMNRA facebook page and TPWD's website. These crappie obviously aren't the ones they stocked because they are white crappie, which haven't been stocked since the 90's. The crappie stocked into the lake in 2016 were full grown black crappie. Some white crappie apparently made it through the drought, high salt content and algae bloom along with the catfish and carp. Then they stocked a ton of baitfish into the lake over the last couple years, with nothing to prey on them except what lived through the drought, resulting in nice sized white crappie and catfish.
