Never seen one alive, back in the early 90s I was in graham at a circle k. I knoticed a bunch of guys looking in the back of a pickup in the parking lot, I asked the clerk about what was going on and he said someone shot a mountain lion. Went over and checked it out, pretty good size and the claws were huge, never would want one to be mad at me.

I've seen more bobcats in Frisco and Plano, building houses than I have seen in all my years in the woods and on the water.

Almost forgot about the plumbers friends wife who had one on top of her box blind. She kept seeing a tail dangling in front of her window. Finally got tired of it and reached out and grabbed a hold of it. I think she #%$& a twinkie when the cat jumped off the roof. There are plenty of people if they told me this story there is no way I would believe it but not this lady.

Saw one back in the 1980's 3 to 3 1/2 miles south west of Hubbard Texas. During that time a rancher had a bounty for the big cat as it killed one of his horses. If I remember correctly he would pay $1000 for the dead cat. Was not hunting just riding down a gravel road when it started down a hill. I put my foot in the gas to try and cut it off but the faster I got the faster it got. The cat jumped the fence on the west side of the road landed in the middle of the road and jumped the fence and headed for the creek. It stopped and looked back at us before it bailed off into the creek.

One morning, a citizen pointed to some marks on a business street and declared, Thats where a panther slept last night. No one had seen any panther and the spot might have been where a calf had wallowed. But a young lawyer with a sense of humor, who moved from Fort Worth to Dallas, wrote a letter to the newspaper stating that Fort Worth was so nearly deserted that a panther had slept in the street. Capt. Paddock, however, embraced the reference and dubbed Fort Worth Pantherville, giving the city another famous nickname Panther City.

I've seen three. First one on 6666 Ranch in the 70's, one in the Everglades crossing the road at night, one while fishing Monticello a few years ago.

Definitely. They are running rampant around Argyle killing everyone's livestock. I hope they don't get my mini donkeys.

Mountain lions are very elusive. They're seldom seen even areas with dense populations of them. Experts in stealth with a strong instinct to stay away from people, many natives referred to them as ghost cats. Adult males have home ranges of at least 200 square miles and up to 350 sq miles. Adult females home ranges will range from 100 square miles up to 200 square miles. A dominant male will allow females to overlap his home range but never another male. This sends young males out into the unknown searching for their own home range or living on the fringes until they can challenge an adult male for his.

I volunteered with the Santa Monica Mountains "Save the lions" group in high school. I was very interested in lions especially those that live in the very Heart of Los Angeles essentially. Even living in Suburban Los Angeles those lions were almost never spotted.

Lions are on the rebound across the US. With lions showing up just outside of Chicago. Interestingly those were young male lions and the genetic tests showed they originated from the Black Hills of South Dakota. These would be young males again pushing out farther and farther for their own home ranges. These males usually end up being killed by car strikes or in the case of the one outside of Chicago by a police officer who cornered a lion in an alley and was not quite sure what to do so he killed it.

Historically lions extended across all 48 states. However now, the healthiest populations are found in the West. With confirm sightings beginning to come in from some of the plains states. Texas has maintained a small but stable population in the Big Bend area and in the Arid regions along the Texas/Mexico border.

There's been only one confirmed sighting of a lion anywhere near DFW in the last 50 years and that was 4 years ago near Glen Rose. That cat was caught on multiple game cameras. These photographs were corroborated. Tracks and scat were recovered. Investigators in site also compared the photographs with static objects captured in the photos. They were able to determine that this lion was male and probably 75 to 80 lb. Average for a young male.

Other promising photos, upon investigation of the photograph site and correlating the size of the cat in the photo to other objects to which the size was able to be measured, all turn out to be large domestic cats or in some cases Bob cats.

The photo shared here showing the presumed Lion in Grapevine is a perfect example. I'm sure if you showed up and measured that tree, the height of the lights etc. Then did a little bit of math youd find nothing more than a house cat was photographed.

As for black lions in the US; While theoretically it's possible for a mutation to occur in mountain lion that resulted in a purely black lion, no verified case has ever been documented. The odds of it happening are so slim (think Billions in one),make it highly likely that any "black panther, or black lion sightings are the result of black house cats and/or overactive imaginations.

Quite a few sightings reported here.

No, but I stayed in a Holiday Inn recently.

I've seen a few shows/docs on the Cali ML's. It's pretty interesting. They name them like P22,23,24 I believe and have tracking systems on them. The doc I watched a while back Cali was going to make these causeways or paths over the highways for them and other wildlife to cross to get to other areas. If I remember correctly is was going to cost a S load of money. Not sure if Cali ened up doing it or not.
