Fishing can be expensive...I'm allways looking to save money

The Punch bomb looks like a Combo of a Jig and a T-Rig...

Is it strictly for punching grass or can you use it in all situations you would with a Jig or Texas Rig?

Seems like a cheap alternative...but I have never used one.

Thanks TFF

I use punch skirts and different size tungsten weights with a worm hook a lot. It emulates a jig and comes through heavy cover like thick brush much better than a jig. You get the added bulk of the skirt and you can change out skirt colors and weights sizes based on the water depth/cover/wind.

Not really cheaper than a jig/ If you use a tungsten weight, one of these skirts and a good hook you can easily have $10 tied up in your rig before you ever put a worm on it.

I like these but many companies are making punch skirts. You are only limited to your imagination.

Ken is dead on this subject.
When I build a specific bait the parts have to come from 3 different companies. No one carries the best and exact parts needed to put the best bait together that Mr. Bass will eat every time you put in front of one. The shipping alone on small orders, when you realize you need something fast pushes just a Jig over the top price wise.

Although I have posted the picture and my technique for punching deep grass and heavy mat many times. This is best done with a Heavy Drop Shot. It is rigged short to only 4 inches. This is the least expensive and most effective method for me. It goes in the grass and comes out without any issues of pulling grass. You have a hook, bait and weight. I have played with this rig and put skirts and etc. trying to make it better for 25 years. It doesn't get any better. If there is a Bass under the grass and you are on the right spot they will eat it.

Each person you work with holds some promise to your future success.

Punch rigs are not just for grass. I use them when fishing thick brush as well. I pretty much base my decision on bait style on how thick the cover is. A lot of it is personal preference too. If you feel like you save more money using a punch rig then by all means go for it.
