Depends on you really, but I like a 6'8 I have a 7' to but I like the shorter rod most of the time it's the only rod I use less than 7'. Medium fast is the way to go imo.

Six and a half, medium fast.
Light line.

If you go too long it's harder to impart the correct action because you fish them rod tip down.

Cut with her golden oars the silver stream,
And greedily devour the treacherous bait.

I prefer the longer 7' rod, too. I use the MH, moderate fast tip for my jerkbaits, good shallow and medium diving CB rod, too. Hope this helps. Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

Either a 6'8" or 7' medium action, fast tip, typically a 3 power. I would not though that I wouldn't necessarily recommend a crankbait rod as most, I say most, have less backbone mid-blank and some are even parobalic action, which won't give you the backbone you need mid-blank to give the jerkbait the right action. I typically use my rods for dual purpose and the same rods I use for jerkbaits also serve as a rod for small swimbaits, flukes, and topwaters. I've had pretty good success with the St. Croix Avid and the very affordable Powell Inferno rods. I can give you the exact models if you want, just don't have them handy at the moment. Good luck.
