2009 Mercury 150 EFI Problem-Need suggestion for Mechanic Near Longview #12463427 10/12/17 09:06 PM

Here's the deal, after cruising down the lake for about 20 minutes I came down off pad and idled around a minute or two. When starting back up on pad, a loud, steady alarm sounded. I immediately backed off the throttle and the alarm stopped as I sat there idling for a few seconds. I very slowly returned to the ramp with no additional alarms.

Does anyone know what a steady alarm from this particular motor indicates (I'm thinking either oil delivery problem or over heating)?
Also, can anyone recommend a really good Mercury mechanic near Longview? The one I usually use is on vacation for several weeks. Thanks

Sounds like over heat. Probably time for a new water pump. That's exactly how mine acted. New pump fixed it. While I was at it I replaced both t-stats as the original stats were somewhat corroded. Both are easy DIY items. 2003 EFI 150

From Genesis: "And God promised men that good and obedient wives would be found in all corners of the earth."

Then He made the earth round...and He laughed and laughed and laughed!

Thanks for the suggestion on the thermostats. I'll probably replace them and the temp sensor, too.
