The bite on this lake seems to be off right now. Last week we boated 15, but nothing worth talking about. All our bites were on plastic T/R in 14 to 18 FOW. Very slow day. I was also graphing stuff on my electronics that I can't explain, but it appeared like noise does. One area it would be all over my graph and then move and it wasn't as bad. The water had an off color, pretty dingy really. Even over on the riprap where water is normally clearer, it to was dingy. Give a few weeks and the chew will be on.
This lake can kick your rear end some times, it doesn't always fish great.

We fished Sunday 10/8 from 7:00-12:30. Started off throwing traps over shallow grass and caught 3, them caught one decent one on a swim jig in the reeds. Bite slowed until I found a school on a offshore Rock Pile in 13-15ft. Caught 20+ in 1.5 hours off the rock pile throwing C-Rigs, Crankbaits, Football Jigs. Rock or hard spots to me is the key to offshore fish on Fayette, you just have to graph around or fish fast to find them. When you do find a fish offshore, soak the area good and you can normally find a sweet spot holfing multiple fish.

Picked up 13, biggest was in the 3 range, in less than an hour on point right at sunrise on the 7th. Nothing after that. Lake about a foot lower then several weeks ago and the water has a dingy brown tint to it. On a promising note the grass reeds are finally making a comeback.

The guide you're talking about lives less than a mile from the lake and he fishes it regular. He has a few hot spots and will have a good day, then a few bad days. But the bite is off for sure. From everything I have read it seems like the bite is off on most lakes right now. They should be going into a fall pattern, but we need some cooler weather to get this fall bite going good. The cold fronts will be coming more regular so it is just a matter of time before all you know what breaks lose. I was thinking about going today, but I may wait another week or two.
