i bought a ring pro doorbell cam and will be installing it soon.

Here's what i am dealing with on the existing doorbell location.
There's plenty of room for the pro to fit between the brick and the door frame if i cut out a section of the metal trim.
However, i wonder how the field of vision will be affected being so close to the brick, that sticks out a good inch or so beyond the face of the camera.

If i move it over to the brick, i would have to move the wires over which i can't figure how i might do that without cutting into the drywall on the inside which i hate to do.

I think i will set it up in the location of the existing bell and just tape it up there and see how the field of vision looks before drilling any holes.

but figured i would check to see if anyone has had a similar experience that might save me some time

gracias -ted

Can you cut a small piece of 1" x 2" as a riser in the area of the old doorbell? Let it act like a shim and paint it to match. Just drill a hole in it to run your wires through and nail it in place.

^^^ Just cut a small block to raise it and notch the back of the block instead of the metal trim

I don't know if any of these install kits would help you in your situation...

I can tell you that a couple of friends have this same doorbell. They were in a situation similar to you. They decided to simply keep theirs wireless. No problems and battery life last about 6 months before needing a charge.

Thanks for the replies and suggestions.

I ended up removing that metal trim, originally i had it marked to cut a notch in it. After i removed it, it looked fine without the trim, so i just ditched it. The bricks on the side definitely limit the field of vision for the camera, but you can still see the entire walkway and most of the front yard.
