Got out for a while Wednesday afternoon. On the water around noon and off at 5:00pm. Light winds out of the north. Bite was slow the first couple of hrs. Hit my usual brush with one or two fish off of each. Then went to the bridge. No takers at the bridge but I did get to see a float plane landing and taking off. That was the second float plane I have seen at Bardwell. I read a post here a couple of days ago about catching fish in shallow water. I didn't go up there last time because the lake is over a foot low. I decided to try it and it paid off. Caught the final 15 keepers in shallow water. 5 were in 7' and the last 10 were in 5'. They wanted the bait moving. I had just enough line out so bait was on the bottom and the rod tip touched the surface. I would toss it out and let it drift back to the structure. They would slam it. Big fish of the day came out of 7' of water. Water temp is still holding right at 75. 1/16th oz. unpainted jig head w/ Cajun Cricket color "WhatZit" bait. Ended with 25.
