Did some bass fishing on Roberts the other day (got skunked). The wind died mid morning so I decided I better get on some flats before the season is over. I was alone and I wasn't really in the mood to wade so I tried poling the pole boat and fishing by myself. If you have ever tried this you'll know this it can be frustratingly difficult. Carp don't exactly hit a fly with lightening speed so you have to keep the boat in position a lot longer than with saltwater fish. So, whenever I pull it off, I feel like I have really done something, and I did it the other day. As I was trying to fight the fish and get the boat staked out he wrapped every aquatic plant he could find. I decided it was easier to hop out of the boat and go get him than to pull up the stake and wrestle the rod and the push pole again. I managed to dig him out and save an otherwise lackluster day.
