Lowrance Elite 7ti, $699. Total scan transducer, side and down scan with touch screen. Put a Navionics chip in it and you're grinnin'.

Elite 7Ti with TotalScan transducer if you stretch your budget slightly. Unless you need to network with another Lowrance, I don't see any reason to get an HDS.

Also can buy a Humminbird Helix 7 Gen 2 w/SI for $700.

Lowrance Hook 9 is only $499 at Dicks right now. Comes with mapping, CHIRP Sonar and Down Imaging. I have the Hook 7 and I love it.

I have a Hook 7 on the front and its ok but doesn't have a place for a chip if you decide to get one.

Tackle warehouse has hds-7 gen3 touch on clearance for about that price. That's what I've been running the past year and they are pretty good.

Raymarine Dragonfly Pro is a great unit, great value and Cabela's has it for $549

features: 7" all-weather, high-definition LED backlit display for optimum clarity
CHIRP DownVision sonar
Bonded display for sharp color, wide view angles and no fogging
Micro-SD memory-card reader for maps and saving screen shots
Includes Navionics+ (US and Canada) lakes, rivers and coastal maps
Use with optional Navionic and Raymarine LightHouse format charts

Used the 5" unit when it was brand new and was VERY impressed with the unit and screen detail was incredible.
