Put the tube on Athens for about 4 hrs today. It was a typical type of Athens day. Lots of sunfish. First place I hit had a big pod of them. On my first cast I got one about 9 1/2 inches (which was the big fish of the day) and the followed it up with a bunch of 7 and 8 inch fish until the bite cooled down. Then I kicked from spot to spot picking up fish here and there. My average was probably a solid 6 inches with some smaller and some bigger. Also got a bass about 2 lbs or so.

I watched a shore angler at the 2495 Road bridge catch a bass about 25 inches long on a minnow while he was trying for crappie. Fish gave him a good fight. Don't know what it weighed but it looked about 6 lbs or so. Also don't know if he kept it because I moved on as soon as he had it in hand. I wasn't smart enough to take my cell phone along so no pics today. All the fish I caught were released to fight another day.

If the wind doesn't blow I'll be on Richland Chambers tomorrow trying for a mess of crappie.

Cheers Y'all.

Flags,

My wife and I were heading into Athens the other day, passed over 2495 going south toward town and I am pretty sure I saw you either moving toward the boat houses across there where we visited a few months ago, or maybe you were on the way to the bridge. I was moving too fast to see which way you were going.

I was out a Purtis Creek a few weeks ago and one local guy said the crappie would start stacking up near the dam, spillway area in October. Interesting!
