Transducer is mounted in the hull and depth on graph goes to 400 feet when on plane. Sometimes it has lapses in shallow water too.
What would be the best way to attack the problem and find a solution?

First what kind of boat do you have. Not all boats are suitable for shoot thru transducers. If its a shoot thru compatible hull you will need to Remove the transducer and find the correct spot to put it. To do this you gonna need to add water to the bilge area so that the transsucer is completely submerged. Then add (preferably a sand bag) something heavy so the shoot thru transducer doesn't move . Drive the boat how you normally would and just keep moving the transducer till you find the sweet spot then you will know where to glue it down.

The transducer does its best work at 5 mph or less. Above that speed, a boater should be using his chart to ensure he stays out of shallow water.

2013 176 Stratos with transducer installed at purchase with fishfinder. I'm second owner.
Had similar install on previous boat with no problems. Trying to decide if I'll replace graph and use transom mount transducer or try to fix this one.
Thinking it might be improper placement of transducer.

Do this alone with the least amount of weight in the boat you will ever have to find the best spot. Added weight of water and a friend will lower boat just enough that it might not work as well when you do fish alone.
