transducer on transom mount trolling motor

How do I run the transducer cable up the shaft? The bracket is in the way. It needs to let the shaft slide up and down.

Can you just mount it on the transom instead? Would make it much easier and less likely to damage it. Someone posted that they took coiled air tubing and sliced it open then slid the cables into the tubing. You could probably do something similar to that and just zip tie it at the base and the top.

I zip tie mine all the way up the shaft and down the trolling motor cables. I leave a gap with a little slack where the trolling motor pivots.
