The blue pot is a lemon tree we planted a year ago from seeds.
Me and my boy wanted to plant a fruit tree of some kind since we moved in. But, with all the utility lines running underneath, our options are slim. We're keeping it small for now.

We planted about 5 seeds, I think 3 of them sprouted.
I wanted to ask yall if I should separate them in separate pots?
The soil is disturbed because the high winds we got over the weekend knocked it over.

On a separate topic, what is the name of the purple plant?
I have about 4 of those in my front yard flower bed.
I thought the freeze in January killed them, but they made a huge comeback.
So huge, they're covering up these other perennials I have.

The purple plant is called wandering jew, or purple heart.

I would separate the lemon trees so they don't have to compete for nutrients

Should I prune the Purple Heart some?

You can if it's getting out of hand. I've stuck cuttings off of those in the dirt and had them take root. So if there is a spot you want more of it...

They are already probably grown together pick which one you like the most and cut the other two.

Yes, when I pulled them out, I saw their roots grown together.
I cut them and placed them each in separate pots.

I don't know if we'll get any lemons now...

They usually take at least 3 years to produce when grown from seed.

Go ahead and upsize your pots now too so you don't have to do it when the trees get a really large root system going. I have a dwarf hybrid lemon x orange tree that produced about a dozen fruits last year...it had only produced one fruit each of the 2 prior years. I probably need to go with a larger pot now too, but they are kind of hard to find unless I want to shell out over a hundred bucks for one.

I have counted over 30 lemons starting to grow on my midget this year...I'm excited. These lemon orange hybrids are delicious. Last year, my wife made a lemon tart from them and it was money.

so were the seeds from a lemon you bought at the store?
& actually why seperate them?
wouldn't it splice into 1 tree?

We have a Mexican Sweet Lemon Tree and a lime Tree. We usually are able to harvest about 15 or so sweet lemons about this time of year, but this year got none. I looked the lemon and lime tree over yesterday and we had tons starting to grow.....weird.

I also started a Meyer lemon tree from seeds I got from a lemon this spring. It’s about a foot tall right now and growing well.

Our Sweet Lemon Tree is about 3 1/2 Ft tall but very thick and bushy. The lime Tree is bout 5 ft tall. Both are in big pots and we bring them both inside for the winter.
