 Humminbird Helix transducer location

Just curious if anybody has their HDSI transducer mounted on backplate instead of on the boat. I have my down imaging mounted on backplate but wasn't sure if I could put the so there. Not worried about on plane reading as I have a thru hole transducer. Will be on a Skeeter boat. Thanks for any help.

I have my hdsi mounted to my Jack plate, I also use a thru hull for on plane. I don't see any issues with my install. Just make sure it's level !

With a Skeeter, you need the extra spacer between the jackplate L bracket and Shield to have side clearance for the hull sponsons. That's using the Transducer Shield and Saver mount system (best there is).

Their website recommends 1.5" but I went with the 2" in hopes it would lower the transducer and eliminate the echoes you'll receive from the slide master jack plate not having a hole shot plate. I think it helped a bit, but it didn't hurt to go with the 2" over the 1.5"
